TERMS OF SERVICE
Last updated 16 September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Sportly ("Sportly", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Sportly you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use Sportly.
1. Who can use Sportly
- You must be at least 13 years old, and at least 16 if you live in a country where that is the minimum age for consenting to online services.
- You must give accurate signup details and keep your password secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- One person, one account. Accounts may not be sold or transferred.
2. Your @username
You choose your own @username when you join, and names are given out on a first come, first served basis. You can change it once every six months.
There is one fair exception. Names that clearly identify a real club, team, athlete, league, competition, broadcaster or brand are held for the people and organisations they belong to, so that fans are never misled about who they are talking to. If you are holding a name like that, or a name chosen to impersonate someone, we may reclaim it and pass it to its rightful owner. The same applies to names used to mislead, to abuse others, or to names left completely unused for a long time.
We will always be reasonable about it: we'll contact you first, explain why, and give you a chance to pick a new name before anything changes. Your posts, followers and account history stay with you. If you believe a name genuinely belongs to you - including your own nickname or your business - tell us and we'll look at it properly. A reclaimed name doesn't affect the rest of your account, and we won't take names simply because someone else wants them.
3. Sportly is sport-only
Sportly exists for sport. Posts and comments are automatically checked for relevance, and anything that isn't about sport may be blocked or removed. Discussion of club ownership, finances, governance, stadiums, fan culture and similar topics counts as sport.
- No party politics, elections, religion or war commentary.
- No harassment, hate speech, threats, or abuse of other fans.
- No adult content, gambling or betting promotion, scams, crypto pitches, advertising or spam.
- No impersonation of players, clubs, journalists or other people.
- No unlawful content, and no posting other people's private information.
Repeated breaches can lead to content removal, feature limits, or your account being closed.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reformat and distribute your content within Sportly so we can operate the service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies kept in routine backups for a limited time.
You confirm you have the rights to what you post, including any photos you upload.
5. Post history
Sportly is built for live conversation, not permanent archives. Your posts, likes and comments are cleared roughly every 90 days, and you can download an archive of your posts from your profile at any time before that. News stories from the Sportly Wire are removed after 7 days.
6. News, scores and third-party content
The Sportly Wire links to stories published by third-party outlets, and fixtures, scores and results come from third-party data providers. We don't control that content and can't guarantee it is accurate, complete or up to date. Headlines and summaries are shown for reference; the full story belongs to the outlet that published it.
Fan polls, prediction scores and rankings on Sportly are for entertainment only. They are not betting, tipping or investment advice.
7. Reporting and moderation
You can report any post or comment that isn't sport related. Reports are re-checked and content that breaches these terms is removed. We may remove content or suspend accounts where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, and we aim to act proportionately.
8. Advertising
Sportly may show ads and clearly marked sponsored posts. We do not accept gambling or betting advertising. Where ads rely on optional cookies, they only run with your consent - see the Cookie Policy.
9. Closing your account
You can delete your account yourself at any time: open your profile, tap Edit profile and choose Delete account. You'll be asked to confirm, as deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Deleting your account removes your profile and @name, posts, replies, event chat messages, Call It picks, likes, follows and followers, and your saved sports, teams and search history. You can download a copy of your posts from your profile before deleting. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, or if we stop offering the service.
10. Service availability and liability
Sportly is provided "as is". We work to keep it running but can't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or lost profits. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; if a change is significant we'll give notice in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
